It has been 7 months now since I have had a REAL job. I have had filler jobs for a month or less, but nothing permanent. I hate the whole process of job hunting and the whole "We will call you." and you never get the call. So, tomorrow I am going to go to visit a few colleges. Lets get the damn sheet of paper in stuff I already know but will make the employer feel good that I can sit in a classroom and think like a drone. Wait, that isn't me. I have done my best learning outside of a classroom, and did pretty good. I am proud of it in fact. But, I must first pass the "popularity" contest that one is subjected to during the whole application process. For some jobs I have been up to 3 interviews and still didn't get the job.
Really.
I am so tired of all this. Have a good night.

What is in a name?
After six months of no gainful employment and not for the lack of trying, I finally got a job that lasted all of 4 weeks. Great. Now what? Well I choose to start a blog. Why? Because I do have alot to say and only a 12 year old and my Facebook site to expound my views. Not that I really have much to say, or that my life is oh, so interesting. But after spending 5 days a week pouring over want ads in print and online and sending emails with my resume, I find I need an outlet and Facebook doesn't do it for me.
It took me a week to find a name that wasn't already taken and one that isn't too long, or weird or anything. So what is in a name? As humans, we spend our lifetime with things that are named. We are named at birth by our parents, some of us get really embarrassing names, or hard to read names, or just plain "why did they name her that?", names. Some of us got lucky with names we liked. I know for a fact my father wanted to name me after him, Leslie. My mother told me he HATED his name. His own mother named him Leslie Howard, and old actor she liked. My mother gave me her best friend's name and my middle name came from her father, Leo, except the e was dropped and an e was added. I know i spent nine long months picking out the right names for all four of my kids. I liked an actor named Harry Anderson, and also in honor of a grandfather who was looking forward to meeting me but died a few month before, Harold. Thus my oldest is called Harrison Leo. Leo after my mother's father. I thought long and hard about those names, what they meant to me and how people will think about the names and more importantly how the child will like the name that I saddled on him/her. For the most part I hope I was successful.
Now, hopefully dear reader I will get to the point. The reason I came up with my blog name? Well most people assume that geeks are male, and any age from teens to early 70's. Think rocket scientist. Anyway, when I tell people I am a tech geek, a mom, a gamer (table and computer), I get confused looks. I am 43. Whereas modern geek girls are in their 20's and cute, I am not cute. I figured out back in the late 80's, early 90's that computers were going to be more important to our way of life then anybody would know. I built my first computer in 1998 out of spare parts. It kinda blew up. But my second soon followed and lasted a long time, about 3 months before I upgraded the video card, then added a bigger hard drive, a cd burner, you get the point.
Ok, ok, I am a laughing Geek because I look at things and just think, "really? do they really think like that?" I want to try and understand things and maybe with input we can all find things to discuss, or, for the lack of a better place, I can vent here, and my daughter won't have to listen, for the most part.
